The Natyarpana dance company was founded by Kripa Baskaran in an effort to propagate the Indian culture and traditional values through the art form of Bharatnatyam.

Natyarpana classes are categorized into three distinct levels: beginner, intermediate and advanced. Students train in:

  • Dance theory
  • Abhinaya, facial expression
  • Nattuvangam, art of conducting a dance recital
  • Choreography
  • Stage management
  • Carnatic Music
  • Indian mythology
  • Natyarpana’s new 'spiritual elevation' section targets the students in the United States help connect to the spiritual aspect of the sacred art form through spiritual interpretations, yoga exercises for flexibility, South Indian classical music and a strong theory of classical music. Natyarpana supports yearly workshops by senior visiting artists.

Through dance, Natyarpana aims to cultivate self esteem, grace and poise with a fine sense of rhythm and co-ordination. Since its initiation in 2003, Natyarpana has staged in many cross-cultural events in Wisconsin.

The company dancers perform in several cultural organizations, public libraries and participate in major collaborative productions, charitable shows, fund-raisers and multicultural events. The company offers lecture demonstrations regularly for better appreciation of this dynamic art form.
