I want to say that we are very lucky here in the Madison area to have a dance company like Natyarpana -- and we know, of course, that Natyarpana couldn't exist without Kripa's efforts. It is unusual, I think, in a small city like Madison, with a comparatively small South Asian community, to have such a large and multi-talented Indian dance company. Natyarpana has attempted and successfully brought to fruition some very ambitious productions of Indian Classical dance. It is notable that, when needed, Natyarpana members are capable of providing live musical accompaniment as well. The teaching efforts of Kripa Baskaran has enriched the community with additional accomplished dancers.

”One Universe, Many faces”

Kripa Baskaran and her Natyarpana Dance Company present "One Universe, Many faces"- an innovative dance ballet uniting and honoring several cultures of the world. The production was premiered at the NCOLCTL conference reception as a central presentation honoring and uniting several world cultures which include African, Hmong, Chinese, Middle Eastern, Indian, and Arabic where the dancers unite with a grand fusion.

“Sanmargam” - The blissful Path

Healthy body and a pure mind are the two essential aspects which lead to a clean path of life. Sanmargam – the blissful path leads one to realization of the real life values which bring peace, love and wisdom to human life. Sanmargam is traditionally choreographed in Bharatnatyam style which will portray the intricate footwork and graceful movements set to melodious Indian classical music. The music is pre recorded in India and costumes, stage props and jewelry are tailored from India. The compositions in Sanmargam are multilingual and the dances will have explanations in English for the benefit of the audience.

Sacred Geometry

Artistic restlessness urges us to experiment with different styles of movement and music. It is this inner creative energy that begs to seek expression and we offer it to you today, in the form of dance. We have blended the beauty and spirit of Bharatanatyam, with the aesthetic symmetry and science of Geometry . Kripa Baskaran and the Natyarpana Dance Company present for the first time, "Sacred Geometry"- an experiment in space and time.

For the past seven years, it has been my pleasure to attend and write about artistic and cultural performances that are held in the Madison area. Some of the most consistently enjoyable and technically proficient performances that I have witnessed over those seven years have been performed by Kripa Baskaran and her Natyarpana School of Dance.

A full length Bharatnatyam performance by Kripa Baskaran as a solo, duet or with 5 – 10 Company dancers for 20, 30, 45, 90 or 120 minutes based on request. Taped or live orchestra support could be arranged which will include percussion, flute, Violin, vocal and cymbals.
